A lead magnet is just what it sounds like.

Once you've created brand awareness, you'll need to generate leads by creating an irresistible offer containing valuable information, usually content that can help solve a problem your prospects have, that they can get their hands on in exchange for their contact information.

Some examples are free educational guides, free trial periods, e-books, cheat sheets, swipe files, templates, coupons, quizzes, webinars and case studies.

And YES, you absolutely need lead magnets to attract customers to your business, products and services.

OK. But how do I create a captivating lead magnet?

As mentioned above, there are different types of lead magnets so depending on which one you decide to create for your business, you may need high quality images and text, the right tool or platform such as Canva for an infographic, Microsoft Word for a checklist, Zoom app for a webinar, etc., and of course you’ll need a bit of creativity!

Some key things to keep in mind is that people want things easy and now. So give them what they want.

Be specific in your offer. What solution do you have for their problem?

An email address seems like a small price to pay for something that will make their life easier, doesn’t it?

Your lead magnet should be high quality and professional.

Just because it's free doesn't mean it should look or feel it.

Don’t be afraid to really deliver and giveaway high value, knowledge and information but make it easily consumable at the same time.

You've got their attention, now you want them to be wowed,  stick around and become a paying customer of your products and services.

Got it?

OK. But what if I don’t have the time to create an e-book? What if I’m not ready to do a webinar right now? What if I don’t feel creative enough? What if I just don’t want to create one myself?

Thankfully, there are systems out there that have already made, done-for-you lead magnets that you can offer to your audience.

I recommend My Lead System Pro (MLSP), an online community that provides up-to-date educational trainings, webinars, affiliate products and resources to help your brand win online.

Bonus Tip:

When a prospect opts-in to your lead magnet, that is gives you their contact information for your content, you can hit them with a low-dollar (less than $20) offer on the Thank You page to convert them into a customer right away!

And that, my friend, is an initial customer acquisition!

Ready to start generating those leads?

Let's get to work!

Sweaty palms, heart racing, butterflies in my stomach, shallow breathing and rising body temperature as anxiety creeps in at the thought of standing in front a crowd to give a presentation.

Did you know public speaking is listed as America's #1 fear?

Some fear public speaking more than they fear death!!

Anyone who says they don’t get nervous before or during a speech has got to be superhuman!

But once I understood that it was normal to feel this way, instead of avoiding an opportunity to address an audience, I decided to feel the fear and do it anyway!

“Unknown situations empower me to grow.”

It's within this process that I've learned a few things that have helped me overcome or at least minimize fear of public speaking.

Here's a few..

I know my topics and I know them well!

Ever heard about the 5 P's?

Proper preparation prevents poor performance.

The more I understand my topic, the more passionate I am about sharing my content. But that doesn't come by just reading or by watching videos. It comes by being a practitioner of the topics that I pick. It comes by being in the trenches and actually doing the thing.

Being a Social Media practitioner prepares me to be able to answer questions and further serve my audience.

The more knowledgable I become, the more secure I feel delivering my presentation! It gives me some wiggle room for improv and storytelling.

Never rely just on kick-ass content. You need to connect with your audience at a personal level and what better way to do so than by storytelling.

Proper storytelling will give you an opportunity to build rapport with your crowds. Feel free to be vulnerable. Don't bore them with a lecture, instead try to lead with a question or story, a defining moment that helped shape your life perhaps.

Storytelling helps to get the audience thinking about ideas or focusing on the narrative of your story, instead of on you.

You might be the Grand Master Geek at some specific topics but your audience might not.

Don't get too techy!

Practice your entire presentation in front of some people who might fit your audience's profile.

You must know who exactly you are talking to.

Get feedback and video yourself so you can see what changes and improvements need to be made.

You want to be authentic, natural and connect with your audience by “dumbing it down” a bit if necessary. Provide practical examples, demonstrations, case studies.

Not just a boring Powerpoint sounding like a robot.

Adjective:  Allowing a two-way flow of information between two people or things; responding to a user's input.

Ask questions!

Check for your audience's pulse once in a while, yes?

One of the tools I like to use is  Mentimeter .

This tool allows me to ask if anyone has questions and my audience is able to engage via this app in an incognito manner, that way no one feels like they're on the spot or asking a stupid question while I am able to take the attention off myself.

Focus on slow, deep breaths right before your speech to ease any anxiety but remember to vibrate. Project your voice and resonate inside that room.

Remember to breathe during your talk and change tonality, from animated to slower almost whispering tones when you want to reel people back into your story.

The more nervous you are, the faster you'll tend to speak. But that's ok. Slow it down, relax and just breathe.

Be present, be generous with the information and value you are giving your audience, and be excited about this opportunity you have to share your expertise with a crowd of people who are interested in your speech.

Now get out there and start booking those public speaking engagements!

Don't be selfish and let fear get in the way of sharing your story, knowledge or wisdom. Someone out there needs to hear what you have to say!

When I accepted the challenge to speak at Social Media Day Jacksonville, I struggled a bit because at the time Facebook had stopped chatbot platforms while Mark Zuckerberg was in front of Congress.

All third-party applications that collected data from Facebook users were paused for about a month. Once they enabled them again, marketers had to understand what Facebook wanted us to do now in order to comply with new Terms of Service and continue to provide a great user experience while using automation tools.

Marketers many times get so seduced by automation tools that they forget that we are communicating with humans. Our customers are humans. Humans pay for things!

But as more and more brands continue to adopt Messenger chatbots to their digital strategy, some Facebook business pages have been banned for violating Facebook’s Terms of Service.

You know, the stuff no-one really cares to read. I've included the link twice so far so there's no excuse.

It would be a disservice to my peers and to my audience at Social Media Day to just talk about the functionality of Messenger chatbots. Or to show off a bunch of statistics and graphs without first showing how to “humanize” your brand.

Humanizing your brand with bots. This sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it?

In a recent poll I conducted on some Facebook groups, I found that people’s main concerns when it comes to Messenger chatbots were privacy issues and that bots “take away” from the social experience.

But what if I told you that you can actually add value to your audience and to your customers by having meaningful conversations with them using a chatbot?

There’s one thing that connects us all. Since the beginning of civilizations this is true and this isn't likely to change.

It's called storytelling.

I don’t have to quote a plethora of scientific studies (and I am certainly not a scientist) in order to support the fact that human beings learn and connect through storytelling.

In fact, the most common denominator in nearly all of the twenty speakers who presented at Social Media Day Jacksonville was storytelling.

This isn't a fad!

Even when the time comes when we will wear contact lenses that are connected to virtual reality, rest assured that forward-thinking marketers will have their brands telling stories in order to create meaningful sentiments with their audience.

Remember Apple's Think Different campaign?

In this historic piece of advertisement, Steve Jobs and Chiat/Day didn't talk about any product or their benefits. They didn't talk about features or about their competitors. They spoke about brand culture. And they did it with great storytelling.

This is old-school!

It's so old-school that since the beginning of civilizations people told stories and recorded them.

The writing is on the walls. Literally! Look at the hieroglyphs that are still written on the walls.

Now that we’ve established that storytelling isn’t going anywhere, let’s dive into Messenger automation. AKA chatbots, shall we?

To help you understand better how you can use automation to humanize your brand, I’ve included this blog post where you can get familiar on what Messenger Marketing Can Do For You.

What if the  chatbot for your event would engage your audience with the following dialogues:

“We appreciate your patience yesterday morning during registration. We know it was a bit chaotic”.

Or what if it said:

“Did you know that one of our speakers arrived in Orlando at 5am yesterday morning and one of the guys on Dennis’ team drove round trip from Jacksonville to Orlando (a 5-hour drive) so he could be at his workshop at 8 am?

Do you believe this event's bot would give its audience a human feel?

I think so!

Get a 68-page "all-inclusive" e-book, 82-min mp3 audiobook, and a roundtable mastermind to help you attract buyers for YOUR business.

With these powerful marketing automation tools you can not only build a list of subscribers, you can build long-lasting relationships with your audience.

With the right chatbot developer on your marketing team your brand will stand above the rest of these bland, irrelevant, annoying bots that clog up our space.

More complex tasks can be executed using a Messenger chatbot with third-party app integrations. You can:

  • Create InfusionSoft contacts from new bot subscribers.
  • You can add subscribers to your CRM
  • Get your team Slack notifications for new subs
  • Register subscribers to your webinars
  • And so much more! There are hundreds of integrations now that most bot platforms have APIs open

While the social media landscape is ever changing, what’s hot now is Stories whether it be on Instagram, Facebook, SnapChat or YouTube Reels. There’s even Stories on! Not that I would know personally since I’m married but that’s what I heard.

Did you know that 200 million people use Explore on Instagram every day? Or that there’s more than 100 million people that follow #hashtags? And that there’s 100 million Instagram users that do live streams every day?

Let’s talk about Instagram Stories. It allows you to connect with your audience and build trust by story telling using 15-second behind the scene clips showing moments of your daily life.

Since they’re only available for 24 hours after posting, there’s more urgency to view it before it goes away and ya know, people have FOMO.

You can urge your viewers to make sure they stay up to date with your Stories so they don’t miss out on a promotion, discount code or announcement that they may want to take advantage of.

It’s also great practice before doing Live videos since they’re shorter clips and you can record, delete and do it over as many times as you need to!

Ready to start sharing your story on Stories?!

Here’s a few things to keep in mind.

5-15 stories throughout your day is a good amount. Be consistent and show up every single day.

It doesn’t have to be perfect. People connect with authenticity, vulnerability and  real people who feel real emotions.

It can get kinda boring seeing the same still shot photos every day. Change up the styles! You can post photos, videos, boomerangs, super zoom, etc. Play around and familiarize yourself with each one.

Ask for feedback, ask questions, how they feel about a certain topic. Ask them to DM you with their answers. There’s also a voting poll option you can use.

This increases your chances of more viewers discovering you. You can use up to 10 hashtags per story. Just drag it to the outer sides of the screen so you can’t see them anymore. The good news is they’ll all still apply and it won’t take over your whole  post!

Don’t be afraid to promote on some of your Stories. Ex: Swipe up to comment or visit a link or click on link in bio.

People follow people because they provide value to their life in some way, shape or form. Do that, as well as keep these best practices in mind and I’m confident you’ll see your numbers start to rise!
