This year, the almost-annual conference hosted by Facebook intended for developers got a lot more attention due to recent publicity about a data mishandling report.

The 2-day conference included keynotes led by Mark Zuckerberg and many other senior level directors of product development inside of the Facebook robust environment.

After watching about 4 hours of video (some links to resources included at the bottom of this post), here's my recap about the products and features that will be rolling out soon not only within Facebook but also on Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Besides the new updates being mentioned here, I also made some statistics that blew my mind available and for future reference.

Let's review..

We anticipated big moves to be announced at F8.

As of the date this announcement was made, it had been a month since connectivity to all third-party Messenger automation platforms was paused.

Happy to announce that we survived the bot apocalypse AND we learned some things in the process, as I hope all well-rounded marketers did here during this pause.

But it wasn't just Messenger bot apps that got disconnected.

They had to review and update terms of service for hundreds of thousands of apps. You have probably received notices from apps like Spotify, Giphy, Imgur and such.

They definitely made their point when addressing ad transparency tools and privacy updates such as the Clear History button on Facebook that's about to roll out.

20,000 more people are expected to be employed by Facebook for their Security & Content Review team by the end of 2018.

Happy Social Media Marketing!

New Year. New You. Blah blah blah. I’ve heard that before. I've even said that before. Well, guess what? It ain’t gonna work if you’re not building that mindset muscle! Trust me. I know.

The good news is you don’t have to live in the memories and failures of your past. Reprogram your mind and your brain can now be a map of your successful future.

Mindset is defined as a mental attitude or inclination; a fixed state of mind.

It’s easy to say you want change in your life, but what actions are you planning to take to make that happen? It’s time to dig deep, get rid of all those limiting beliefs and whatever is stopping you from experiencing your true potential and achieving success in your life.

It’s time to reprogram that mind of yours because growth inside will fuel growth outside, so let’s get to work!

Want to change? Take ownership of your internal feelings & attitudes and what you project to the outside world. The good news is you’re in charge of your life. The bad news is you’re in charge of your life.

Why not choose happiness and positivity every time? Choose to commit to your personal growth. Choose to be the best version of yourself, for you and for those around you. Aren’t you worth it?

If knowledge is power, then knowledge of yourself is empowerment. – Dr. Joe Dispenza

Be aware of negative thinking, self-talk, energy and emotions. Think positive! Be confident and believe in yourself.

If it wasn’t for this, my ass would still be on the couch for hours after work, wasting time and scrolling aimlessly through Facebook. I was lazy! I gained weight, started to feel bad about myself and didn't like what I saw in the mirror.

Somewhere along the way, I lost my self confidence.

Once I became aware of my negative talk and emotions, I finally decided enough was enough and took action to ensure I wouldn't feel that way anymore. I am more active and committed to my fitness than ever before.

I’m a member at Orange Theory Fitness and loving it! And when I turned 35, I challenged myself to run 35 races by my next birthday. I am really enjoying my journey, getting stronger & faster and I’m happy with my progress!

Self-awareness is the first step towards change. And change is good.

Develop habits that make your success inevitable. They say where your focus goes, your energy flows. Be clear on your vision.

Take action daily by writing, reading or reciting your vision, reading inspirational books, listening to motivational audios, watching videos, reciting positive affirmations, meditating, and attending empowering events.

Invest in your personal development. Apply and teach what you learn and you will soon go from thinking to doing to being.

I get it, you’re busy. But guess what?

There’s no reason you can’t dedicate a few minutes in a 24-hour day to plug into an inspirational call, or watch a kick ass FB video online, or listen to a CD on your drive to work.

Be honest with yourself the way I had to be. If you truly desire success in your life, you’ll find the time. Besides, what better way to jump start your day than by reading a good motivational quote?!

Get around positive people, successful leaders, innovators, thinkers, do-gooders, those that have already achieved what you want, and those that believe in your vision and dreams.

Since I recently started running, I joined several local online running groups. It feels good to be part of a community of active people that support, motivate and celebrate each other's success!

Be grateful for the journey. Appreciate all that you have, all that you are, and all that you have accomplished thus far.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I woke up early to run a 5K race in the cold, rainy weather. Instead of complaining, I filled my mind with thoughts of all I was grateful for in my life.

Am I at my goal weight? No. Have I achieved all my goals I hoped for this past year? Nah. Are my husband and I where we want to be financially? Nope.

But we still have so much to be thankful for and recognize all our blessings! Oh and that race turned out to be one of my best and most enjoyable races to date.

Serve, help and build others up. Get involved in your community.

I have never left a volunteer opportunity feeling bad or like I have wasted my time.

I can't think of a better way to feel a sense of fulfillment in life than by giving back and helping others.

I really hope this helps you on your journey to become a happier, healthier, even more successful and better YOU!

Are you ready to reprogram your mind?

Take action daily and you'll be mentally equipped to handle whatever comes your way in the new year. Cheers to your success!

Whether you have a medical practice with personnel you've hired to support your office demands or you're a Real Estate professional who wears many hats, there is a new technology that allows you and your staff to free up some time on day to day tasks.

Perhaps you have a sizable client base but have a hard time scaling the numbers up, or you're just starting a business and have limited marketing resources to acquire new customers.

As more people are spending more time connected to social networks than ever, businesses are competing for attention on the web.

And if you're a forward-thinking business owner you don't want to see your marketing dollars go straight into the trash by buying ads on magazines, newspapers, yellow pages or direct mail ads.

Remember those times?

These are your print advertising dollars at work.

Marketing automation tools like chat bots will shorten the lead-to-sale process by helping your brand communicate with your audience within the Facebook Messenger environment.

If you are one who likes statistics, you will enjoy this recent blog post I published a few months ago about this marketing automation tool.

Let's dive in and explore some of the immediate and long-term advantages that chat bots will provide to your business.

Let's be real. We can't “save” time.

But tools help us do a better job and therefore free up some time.

Imagine being able to set up a chat bot for your medical office where it delivers reminders to your patients about their next appointment. Or think about sending a coupon that you can send people within a certain area with an offer to come into your office and take advantage of a seasonal deal.

Not only you would be freeing up your staff from making hundreds of calls every week, but you would be targeting potential new customers to your business.

Today's consumer communicates different than 5-10 years ago. People no longer get excited at that “You got mail” voice. But when they get a message inside of a mobile app which they are familiar with, they open it and respond.

That is powerful!

For a Realtor for instance, imagine being able to pre qualify potential buyers by programming a dialogue sequence that will filter out the curious from the ones who are ready to buy. And then imagine sending those same people listings within the zip code of interest, all automated, all relevant and carefully crafted content that cultivates your brand's relationship with your audience.

The possibilities are endless!

Whether you have a brick and mortar store or you're a digital nomad, your business is one of a kind. A chat bot can cater to the specific needs of your office and to the demands of your customers.

With a Messenger chat bot you can educate your audience, keep them  informed and therefore it can help you build brand awareness.

You can deliver invoices, accept reservations, book appointments and accept payments. You can even follow up with past buyers and with people who abandoned your cart at the point of sale.

I can see your eyes opening wide!

As if it wasn't enough, you can also broadcast specific messages to specific micro-segments within your Messenger audience by assigning tags, by gender, location and other custom fields in order to laser target your broadcasts to the right people with the right message so that your products and offers are seen by those that matter.

Unlike dumping money in print ads and hoping someone notices and takes action.

You may or may not have a dedicated marketing department that is willing to take on the implementation of a chat bot, learn Facebook's Terms of Service and maintain the bot operating smoothly, troubleshooting, resolving and just keeping up to date with this developing technology.

But once you and your bot developer find your groove, you're going to see that it can truly be an extension to your brand.

Unlike expensive custom software, this tool serves the functions of three basic components of digital marketing. A Customer Relationship Manager (CRM), an autoresponder, and a conversational sales funnel.

You also won't have to hire a coder in order to deploy this tool.

In fact, if we are the right fit I can work with you and your brand whether you're local in my area or not.

Chat bot marketing will be one of the signature services that my digital agency provides and there are special offers for new clients.

Here's a webinar where I do a quick walk-through inside the chat bot tool that I use called ManyChat.

I can already see you thinking “take my money!”

Do you remember Facebook Mentions?

Facebook Creator is what's formerly known as Facebook Mentions, which was only available for verified public figures. It's available for everyone! However, as of today it has rolled out only on iOS and coming soon to Android.

Facebook Creator allows everyone to create their own flavor of live video.

Let me explain. With Facebook Creator you now can add your own customized intro and outro for your personal brand!

That's so cool!

Remember that your pre-recorded intros and outros need to be portrait format (vertical).

Intro can't be longer than 180 seconds and is recommended to be under 90 seconds. Outro can't be longer than 60 seconds and is recommended to be under 30 seconds and it will play automatically after your Facebook live ends.

In addition to that, you can also add your own custom transparency stickers, frame overlays and animated emojis for your live broadcasts and Facebook stories.

Tip: Custom transparent png files for animated emojis must be 256px x 256px

To set up these cool features make sure you are logged on to your Facebook account on a desktop, go to Settings and find the Video Settings. From there you will find the Live Creator Kit and follow the prompts. After setup, you can turn Live Creator Kit on and off as you wish when you are ready to go live on your mobile device.

The Facebook Creator app is available for profile pages and fan pages that were created originally as Public Figure.  It also provides some of the metrics and analytics that were only available on fan pages.

Pretty cool, huh?

Here's the link where you can register for the Facebook Creator app:

As for Instagram, you can now accept requests from your live viewers who want to appear on your live Instagram broadcast.

This sounds very self explanatory.  What I suggest is that you allow people on your feed who you know, like and trust.

Let's test it! Hit me up on Instagram

Also new on IG is the option to reply to direct messages with video that disappears or images from your camera roll.

Moving on.. Instagrammers are already using third party apps to “re-gram” images, but word in the social media world is that Instagram is looking to have their own regram button.

Furthermore, you will soon be able to search for GIFs within the Instagram stories that you can overlay over your images.

As the adoption of disappearing stories by other platforms continues, YouTube has announced that it's rolling out YouTube Reels.

YouTube Reels is the story-like functionality by a the biggest video search platform in the world, which by the way, it was getting left behind in the way the platform engages its viewers enticing them to spend more time inside the app.

It's interesting how YouTube video creators that once found it a capital sin to shoot video on vertical format will now have to face their own demons, so to speak, haha!

Basically if your YouTube channel has 10,000 subscribers or more, you're gonna notice a new  Community tab.

With the new YouTube Community tab you will be able to interact with your subscribers just like you would in any other social media network. You can share photos, conduct polls and in essence have a more social experience.

So, help me get to 10,000 subs and subscribe to my YouTube channel here!

Anybody has noticed the rise of Messenger chat bots?

5 months ago I wrote a blog post titled Facebook Messenger Marketing For Brands. To really understand what Facebook Messenger Marketing truly is, refer to this post.

Leave me a message letting me know which updates you are looking forward the most and share if you have found value in this article.

Happy social media marketing!

As  I am typing this post the clock says it's 12:15am. That's 15 minutes past midnight on December 1st.

Where does time go?

In my estimation, it's not that time is going faster, but in fact as we age, we are more aware that we have limited time.

Isn't that the truth?

Earlier today I listened to an audio by the one and only Anthony Robbins where he explained how the only thing we have that is equal is that we all have 24 hours a day.

I wrote a blog post back in March debunking the myth about time management. The only thing we can manage in this case is ourselves and what we do with whatever time we have while we are awake, right?

So let me share a few tips that will help you kick ass on this final 31 day period of 2017. And I will do this quickly because I don't have all day, capeesh?

What the heck does this even mean?

We all have heard of priorities, but what if we have our priorities screwed up? Let's face it, we all can catch ourselves spending way too much time on things that don't serve us.

My friend Erin at Savvy Outsourcing did  a great job helping me understand how she prioritizes her tasks. I think I'm gonna follow suit.

  1. What makes the most money today.
  2. What's the simplest thing you can accomplish.
  3. What are the things that will make the biggest impact on your future
  4. Everything else.

I've read somewhere that highly effective people wake up super early. Say 5am, so that by 8am they have crossed out some of their things on their lists.

I have lists, do you?

The thing is that when you are used to waking up at 7 am and attempt to wake up at 5 am, when you go to sleep at 2 am.. well that's not gonna feel too good and this will backfire on your productivity.

I know because I've done just that last week!

So if your intention is to get an earlier start, do it gradually. In 30 minute increments. Otherwise you're gonna overheat the brain-piece, lol.

Time, time, time. How elusive you are.

We all want more of it but guess what? We probably have family in town for the holidays and there's no shortage of holiday party invitations.

In fact, I do have my grandma in town, my brother and his family arrive in a couple of weeks and I have two fundraisers to attend.

Which means that I better optimize every minute of every hour so that I can accomplish more in less time.

Minimize distractions. Work in blocks of time. Be super laser focused and if you believe in multi-tasking, do it in an effective manner but no scatter brain.

As the month of December progresses, you are likely to have more family and other social engagements to attend.

My suggestion is load up your first couple of weeks, even weekends and get as much done during the first half of the month.

And don't forget to exercise, you probably will be stuffing your face..

One thing I'm still learning is that even when I'm on overdrive putting in 15-18 hour days, after 2 or 3 days I crash hard.

My face starts looking like Gary V and that's no good for the video camera.

Hope that makes sense. Just a few practical tips from yours truly.

After I add a picture or two on this blog post, I will be done writing it in under 45 minutes.

‘Cause ain't nobody got time fo that!
